PURCHASE OF SHEEP.
Mr Hislop, buyer for the North Brit Freezing Company, has during the p few weeks purchased 20,000 fat sheep Gisborne district. The sheep will be driv overland to Ntvpier, and there froze Mobs sent from here suffered little weight, the feed being remarkably good c the road. GRASS SEED. A large parcel of Poverty Bay grass seed has been purchased through the Land Mortgage Agency afc 4s 6d per bushel, and tha market has an upward tendency. LAND COURT GRIEVANCES. On account of the large number of cases gazetted for hearing afc the Native Land Court afc Gisborne, and little promise of their being heard owing to the multiplicity of duties of Mr Booth, R.M., who sits as Recorder, the local bodies are taking the matter up. Afc the Borough Council last night a discussion took place on the unfavourable native legislation, and tho following motion was passed to be sent to other bodies and forwarded fco the Government: " This Council desires to represent to the Native Minister the urgent necessity which exists and has existed here for many years, for a continuous session of the Native Land Court for the purpose of disposing of numerous cases of long standing which have so frequently been adjourned, to the great detriment and inconvenience of claimants in this district."
