Bls-TH_l_, this day. A hitch has occurred in connection with the new school building. The Department of Education had authorised the Board to get plans and call for tenders, and the Board did so, and accepted the tender of Mr Scott, of Nelson, .subject to the Department's approval. Now the Department disapprove of the plans, and say they will call for tenders on their own plane. The successful tenderer protests against the Government action. Rev. W. Habens writes stating that the local architect. Uouslin, violated Robson _ theory of siue light, but Douslin explained in detail that he had drawn his! plans on Robson's theory. The general opinion is that the departmental action is scandalous, and Mr Habens's letter inspired from behind, the scenes. The citizens generally are cursing the Department of Education.
