WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The annual statutory meeting for the election of Chairman of the Waitemata County Council was held at noon to-day. _ Ther e were present: Messrs Bruce, Smclalr' Mackay, O'Neil,Bishop,Bruce, and Ihompson. Mr O. Mays (Secretary) presided. < Mr Mackay proposed, " That Mr Sinclair be elected Chairman for the ensuing year. Mr Bishop proposed that Mr Bruce be re-elected. , Mr Brnce proposed that the vote &c taken openly, and a show of hands Wad taken, when two votes were .yiven for each candidate. It was then agreed that the election should be decided by lot. Two paper* containing the names of Messrs Bruce and Sinclair were placed in a hat, and Mr Sinclair's name was drawn. He was therefore declarod to have been duly elected. _ A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring Chairman on tho motion of Mr Mackay.
