The relations between Queen Victoria and Sir Morell Mackenzie are strained* in consequence of the action of th e English medical journals in publishing fac-simile portions of the Emperor Frederick's diary whilst defending Sir Morell against the attacks made on him by the German doctors. These portions of the diary the Queen had ordered to be erased, and their publication lias caused Her Majesty great annoyance. Sir Morell Mackenzie protests lus innocence in the matter, and has assured Her Majesty that he in no way anthorised the publication of these portions of the diary. Her Majesty fears that this incident ■will further annoy the Germans, and catise frictionbetweenthe two countries. )Bir Morell Mackenzie is threatened with libel actions for calling papers who published the parts of his book prematurely thieves and robbers. Fo"rty thousand copies of the -work liave been seized at Leipsic.
