The attention of architects, insurance companies, and the public generally _is drawn to Johnson's Patent Rolled Wire Lathing now being erected at the new Masonic Hotel, Princes-street. The patentees claim that the lathing causes a building to become practically fireproof, and point to severe teste mado by the watch committee in Manchester, and the Superintendents, of Fire Brigades in Sydney and Brisbane, through which bhis patent lathing came with, flying colours. The coEt is very little more than that of ordinary lath and plaster, while such immunity from fire is obtained as to make this patent invaluable for buildings. The lathing is to be.used in the new Custom-house, Wellington, which was burned down some time since. Mr Kelly, tho contractor for the plastering work at the Masonic Hotel, will explain the application of the patent, and any further particulars can be obtained from the solo agent for New Zealand, Messrs Schmedes, Erbsl.h and Co., Canada Buildings, Queenstreet.

Thieving has been going on in the Exhibition for some time past. To-day two employees about the German court were brought up before the City Court charged with stealing exhibits, One of .them, Harrold Gee, pleaded guilty, and was sem tenoed to six weeks i the other, _, named -vQimers, was remanded.
