Edmunds,1? scenic artist, who has been engaged by the Opera House Company to paint the drop scene and stock scenery for the new Opera House, has arrived from Melbourne, and will with his assistants at once commence work. CALEDONIAN SOCIETY. The Wellington Caledonian Society report shows a balance of £213. The question of renewing the scholarships term, which has jusb expired, was adjourned. The Society i3to bo incorporated. Mr T. Kennedy Macdonald has been elected president.

DROWNING AT HUTT.
A boy named William Sayera fell out of a boat on the Hutt River yesterday afternoon and was drowned.
NEW OPERA HOUSE. The new Opera Houso will be opened on December 17th.

J. W. Heath, sioemaker, Rangiora, died suddenly this morning, aged 70. He at one time served in the army and held medals for Afghan war of 1839.
