EDEN AND EPSOM LAWN

TENNIS CLUB-

The annual meeting of the abov c Club was held lasb evening. There was a large attendance of members, Mr A. Heather, President, occupying the chair The report of the Entertainment Committee showed a balance in favour of the Club of over i'3s. Great satisfaction was expressed at the success of these entertainments, which had not only been financially successful, but the means of cementing and intensifying the social and harmonious feelings prevalent amongst the members. The balance-sheet, read by bhe Secretary, proved the Club to be in a satisfactory condition. The deficit at the commencement of last season was £58 7s lOd, which has been reduced, to £2 10s lOd, after incurring an expenditure of nearly £30 in the formation of a new courtand other improvements tothe ground. Special votes of thanks were passed to the ladies and gentlemen who had rendered such valuable assistance at the entertainments, also to Mr and Mrs Udy for their hospitality during the whole of the past season. The following were appointed officers for the current year :— Patron, Mr Justice Gillies ; President, Mr A. Heather ; Vice - Presidents, Misses J. Batger andE. Mahoney, jun.; Committee, Mesdames Udy,Burton, Misses J. Paton, Mackellar, Messrs Garland, Blyth, Hall, and Esam.j Secretary, Mr J. Dawson; Treasurer, Mr J. Paton; Auditor, Mr J. Buttle; Delegates to Association, Messrs Blyth, Macfarlane, and Calle-oder. An enthusiastic vote of thanks was pas.cd to Mr Blyth for his invaluable services as Secretary, to whose energies the great success of the Club is principally due. it was decided to open the season on Saturday, the 27th inst.
