BOARD OF EDUCATION.
?The following business was transacted at the Board of Education yesterday afternoon, subsequent to our going to press. Application i<or a School.— An applies! tion was read from Whareora, asking for a school to be erected. —It was resolved that the application be declined. Wasteful Expenditure,—A letter was read from the Whangamarino School Comjnittee explaining that the rfeaaon of'the small attendance was that six children had left the district-, and others were too far away to attend. The Chairman explained that £200 odd had been expended in building a school for nine children.—lt was resolved to allow the school to go on for a 3__.onth or two longer to see if the attendance would increase.
Whangarei.-This Comrmttee wrote suggesting alterations in the school curriculum. Inspector Fidler forwarded a report showing that while- it would be ultra viru to make the alteration, still the Committee could under the heading of science teach agricultural chemistry. Girls' High School.—A letter was received from the trustees of the school building, forwarding an account of £30 due for rates.—Resolved that the amount be paid. , Appointments.—The following appointments were made:—Miss M. J. Smith to Mercer. Mr H. Ford to Morrinsville, Miss Gibbons to Paoroa, and Miss Truseotfc to" Ta__ahuo_
