Bailey y. Ann Jane Arnold.—'Claim, £2 14s.—Mr Buckland appeared for the judgment creditor and Mr O'Meaghe r for the debtor.—The defence was that t tie debtor was not the manager or the mo rtgagee of the Occidental Hotel in connection with which the debt had been inc. irred. It was urged that the debtor held a bill of sale for £240 over the hotel, but this 'she denied, and the case was adjourned for- a week for the production of the bill of sale* ''in question.

Arthur Heather, v. Ah: Lung. — Claim, £7 14s lOd. — This also was a judgment summons case. The debtor was examined by Mr Thea. Cooper, when he swore he was unabLj to pay. The further hearing of the case wa_. adjourned in order to allow of James Ah Kew being brought forward to be examined!.

Dunn and Drummond v. Briggs.— Claim, £8 16s 4d for repai rs to the steamer Ruby.—Mr Stone appeared forttie plaintiff, and Mr Baume for the defendant. — Evidence wasgiven by Messrs Smith and Walter Slater as to the order and its execution. Mr Baume moved for a nonsniiit on the ground that it had riots been proved that special authority had! been given by the owner to the captain or to the engineer, Walter Slator, to on dear the repairs.—His Worship held the conteaition to be good and nonsuited the plaintiff with costs £.1 Is.

Skanley v. Do_ring. —Claim, £Ji damages and os for the retention of two do»3n aerated mineral water bottles. Mr S. H< .sketh for the plaintiff aud Mr Cotter for tho defence. The object of. the plaintiff was f.o prevent any manufacturer using: his bottles. After hearing the evidence of Charlef* Hays, an employee of tho defendant, and George Simpson, carter for the plaintiff, His Worship said that if the bottles had been found in the defendant's possession, hhe plaintiff would have been entitled to jib dgment, bu this not having been prove<l he would nonsuit the plaintiff with costs , £1 Is.
