"PARTNERS FOR LIFE."
Last evening at the Choral Hall a perform- i anee of J. IL Byron's three-act comedy "Partner* for Life," took place nnder th^ auspices of: the Eden and Epsom Lawn Tennis Club. The hail was comfortably filled, and the audience frequently testified their appreciation of the piece by loud applause. An: artistically designed proscenium, and: sides, with the usual stage mountings, -v^ere in position, and added greatly to the success of the production. Although it; was evident that in some respects a fui*ther rehearsal Of the comedy before its production in public' would nob have been /without much benefit, still, taking everything into consideration, the lady and gjenbleman amateurs who composed the capt gav6 a spirited and faithful interpretatiojn of their various Characters, and they n»ay ;.be congratulated oh the success whioih attended their efforts. The cast . was ais follows : —Horace Mervyn, a country gentleman, Mr E. Mahonv ; Tom Gilroy,' hi«j cousin,' at the bar, Mr H. B. Lusk; M'ugg;lea, his confidential servant, Mr J. Dawsob; Ernest, his nephew, Mr J. W. Hall; Sir Archibald Drelincaurt, a philanthropist, Mr C. Purehaß ; Major Billiber, on half pay, and Goppinger, a returned convict, Mr J. Sykes; Emily Mervyn, a young cousin of Mr Mervyn's, Miss Addison ; Fanny' Smith, an tld' schoolfellow of Emily's, Mrs Sowerby ; Miss Priscilia, Mervyn's lister, Miss Spiers; Darbyshire, her maid, Miss Sowerby. A full amateur orcheso-a was in attendance, and during the intervals rendered appropriate musical - selections in a most creditable manner. .
