The weather continues wonderfully dry; farmers beginning to want rain. We have had no winter this season, and people are generally planting more crops all round than usual this year.
The Town Eoard election yesterday resulted in the return of the old Board. The polling was as follows :—Corns, 162,; Reed, 146; Reyburn, 140; Scott, 170; Williams, 161; Wilson, 117; Sissons, 84; the first five boing olected. ' The public bodies are making preparations to proceed with thoir public works early this season, to take advantage of the good weather. . The Resident Magistrate, James S.Clendon, Esq., is making his visit to tho settlement this woek, there being a considerable number of cases for hearing. They are chiefly civil eases, though ; crime there is none heard of.
The auditor, Mr Burricu, is also making his annual visit to look up tho accounts of tho public officers. '
