Four railway bridges have been "washed out- in pnje j county alone, and 15,Q00 people were without a supply of pure water, owing to the fall of itho great stone bridge across Whirl-1 ing Creek. In Boston, Mass., the rain-j storm was almost ■;:• un paralleled; ■: SewerS , burst in; all directions, doing particular j damage in the vicinity of Bowdoiri Square. ■ Hundreds of people were:driven from their j homes;in the Koxbury disiirict>,:";By the overflow of Stony.Bropk,- In Pennsylvania railway bridges were washed, away, by the dozen,' and scores of families living; in ,the vicinity of livers, wore; forced to fly!" for their lives by the; booming waters. From Southern Maryland, the report is to the effect that houses and barnß were demolished, entire fruit; prcliards.destroyed, and cornfields swept clean, besides vessels Capsized: in sqmo of the small poi'ts. The Everett House restatirant was deluged, the tide being so liipfh that sewera were pro- ' vented'1 discharging their' cotittente. The fruit and vegetablo dealers in Washington Market sustained a loss of, $15,000. The fishing sbearaer Montana; valued at 150,000, was sunk off Gardner's Island. The Cohasset yacht squadron was nearly • annihilated. In Philadelphia^: the damage to cityjpro 1 perty is estimated afc $100,000. _Foi- tlie tliii'd timej in cix weeks a flood visited the Upper f Ohio VaUey; causing a damage of over one million dollars. ; The tueboat Cain was caught in a tvaterspout off Chester, and her decks swept fore and affc, carryingc the captain overboard. Tliev tornado travelled through \ Kenfe County, Md., leaving a path ;of destruction aboufc fifty feotvvide. .Severalcoloui'ed men were ljilled in the village of;,Cscilton, Nine parsons who took refuge in Krebb's cannery at Stillpond, Md., were killed outright and many others were injured. The building was blown to pieces.
