THIS DAY'S PROCEEDINGS.
THE CLOSE OF THE SESSION.
The House met at 11: a. m. to-day. The Premier, in answer to Mr Lance, said he did not see his way at present to announce definitely when the, prorogation would take place. Th at depended on the free conferences now being held ; but otherwise he saw no reason why the business should not be finished early this afternoon.
THE MOKAU LAND; CLA*IMSI
Mr Hodgkinson pressed on the Premier the necessity for bringingin a Bill this session to give relief to Mr Joshua Jonea; Of Mokau. His claims had been favourably reported on by the local Commission, and unless immediate l'elief were.afforded;he might lose his1 property. Sir-H. Atkinson said he hoped to be able to bring in a Bill this session. The difficulty was in arranging terms with Mr Jones, who had already sent in. a rough draft of a measure wbich vwas not satisfactory. Another Bill had since been proposed by Mr Jones' ; solicitors, and was under the consideration of the •Cabinet. ■:,;■.■• ■- ■ ■..;'.■ .... '...,: .m.;-- ■ ' ;?.. '
