HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of this body was held H six p.m. yesterday. Present: Messrs Niccol,. Orowther, Atkin, Cooper, Ambury, Udy, Dignan, and Sturges. Election ofMembers. — The following nominations were'received to fill the vacancies caused be the resipnatiop Mays arid fiuckland :-Messrs U C. Jlpming yand W. J. T. Bell. These gentlemn were accordingly declared elected on ;th«. motion ot Mi- -Dignan, seconded .by ■ Air Mr iflfiOfilJ :§ai<*that ibwas time that the position of Chairman was filled; ho therefore had much pleasure in nominating Mr 13. Cooper. Th^ was seconded by Mr Crowther. Mr Qooper, consented to fill the position, .but.said that; it would bo necessary' *or the.ni to change thonightif ho Accepted the position. "Mr Cooper was olected, and tho question of changing tho night of meeting was deferred. Ho accordingly thanked the. Board, for the honour and took bis seat in the chair. • Reports.— The House Surgeon reported that since last meeting 19. males and eight ■females' had been admibtea to the Hqep^al, apd three men and one woman had died during that period. At prtsent there'are 59 hiiUes and 23 females in the Hospital. iWuGES.'—74 men and 23 females w.ere. reported in the Upper Refuge, and 46 men ahcl 14 women in the Lower Refuge. Thanks.—Mrs Green, the contractor for tho laundry work of the Refuges, wrote thanking the Board for not pressing their claim"against Bcf re clothing ffeetroyocl by tlio recent fire In her house. Hdt*sK CoMMitTKE.—This Pommittee reported that they had sent one female patient to the Sanatorium at Ta Arpha. The Committee'suggeated ..that all the clothes and otiectsof deceased patients should be the property of the .Board. *It was resolved that the Chairman should draft 'a rule dealing 'with this matter. '. - O.N'E Tkee Hill Land. — The Secretary reported that,'on behalf of the Board, he had'purcljased' the lease of allotment at Quo Tree Hill7or £26 per year.—Hie action wus approved by the Board.
