ALLEGED DEFALCATIONS.
On the 31sfc of last July a warrant wa o issued for the apprehension of a young.man named Harry Barnaby, of JNVwm'arkefc. He was charged With having on the 12th of Jaly'f embezzled :.£2,' -the' ;moneya of John Ltimpkin, butcher, Newmarket;. It appears that Bai'naby had been in Mr Lnmpkin's employ for some yeafe He disappeared mysteriously, and then ifc was that his employer discovered that there were deficiencies to the amount of something like £60. Mr Lumpkih laid aninfonnatipn against Barnaby, and the detective traced the man to.Onehunga, from which port ho was supposed to have ;; gone away in one of the steamers. •. A description was telegraphed to the various places at which the-steamers called, but ttill tho man was not caught. At length, however, news has been received! that Barnaby was arrested at Tenui, on the East Coast. He will be sent oil to Auckland ait, the first op-1 portunity.* I
