ACCIDENT IN QUEEN-STREET.
A MAKnamed John Cassidy met with a dis-tressing-accident in Queen-street about, eight o'clock on Saturday evening;- He was standing near the Thames HoteL, when two horses attached, to' a handsom cab dashed up the street from the wharf, and before he could get out of the way he was knocked down and run over. The result was that his leg was fractured. Sergeant Chirk was soon in attendance and ordered Cassidy to be removed to the District Hospital, where his limb»was set. ■ It appears tti'ati the cab had been standing on the Northooto tee of the Queen-street Wharf, where the Rotoiti had just arrived. Two cabs were waiting, the drivers being John Keenan and .David Stewarb. As usual, they had left their vehicles in order to pick up fares. Stewart went down the steps to get nearer the vessel, and Keenan was a few yards away. Stewart's horse swerved against the horse in the hansom, and the conscquerice was that all three horses started up the wharf. The hackney carriage turned up Customs - street West, and was stopped at ■ Albertstreet l>y-; a man named Driscoll. Meanwhile Keenan's horse continued straight up Queen-street, knocking down' Cassidy en route. At length a young man named Robert Hoyle sprang1 upon the hansom, and seising the reins, turned the horse into Durby-f.treet, where he brought them to a standstill. * ' :-
