COLLISION IN THE ENGLISH CHANNEL.
STEAMER ASHORE AT TORRES STRAIT. ' London, August 13. The steamer Bosphorus, of Newcastle, has been sunk in the English Channel through coming in collision with the ship Abbeytown,bound to Warnambool with a cargo of cement. The crew of the Bosphorus were saved. The Abbeytown had her bows stove in by the force of the collision, but she was able to reach Plymouth harbour in safety. Brisbane, this day. The steamship Angers, bound from Foochpw to Sydney with 5,000 tons of tea as cargo, has gone ashore on the Cockburn Reef, Torres Strait. She has sustained some injury, as her fore compartment is already full of water, and 500 tons of tea have been damaged. It is, however, expected that she will be floated off safely.
