The Right Rev. Dr. Luck, Bishop oil Auckland, has furnished Mr J. M. Grace with a testimonial in connection with his canvass on behalf of the- " JJfarly History oi the Roman Catholic Chjurch." His Lordship: observes -. "The worlc cannot but prove highly interesting and instructive to the general public of Auckland, and in an especial manner to the Catholics of this city.. It is entitled < Early History of the Catholic Church in Oceania,' and is a literal translation of a report prepared by the Right Rev., Bishop PompaUier himself, containing a . most interesting account of his toils and labours in the discharge ol his Apostolic ministry in New Zealand, and some of the islands of the Pacific. I cannot too highly recommend this publication, and ■ trust ib will meet with a largo sale amongst the members of the Catholic Church; and that the publisher's enterprise, in undertaking the publication of a book which forms such a suitable souvenir of the jubilation year of the Catholic Church in New Zealand, will meet with the success.^ so highly deserves."
