LUNATICS AT THE REFUGE.
TWO PATIENTS TO BE EXAMINED.
The manager of the Refuge reported:—" I beg to draw the attention of the Hospital Board to the case of Robert Abbott, admitted here on the 18th July. He ia a dangerous lunatic, and requires watching night and day, as he has tried to set the place on' fire. Also to another lunatic, Henry Whitcombe, who is quite dangerous to himself, and it is impossible for me to be responsible for such cases." Mr Crowther said that these alleged lunatics should be brought down to- the Police Court and examined by others than the honorary medical staff. Mr Dignan : We ought to bear in mind Dr. Macgregor's report. Mr Atkin said that he knewthere were two women in the Upper Refuge for whom something would nave to be dorm very soon; One of them had to be looked after now, on account of her dangerous habits. It was resolved : " That Dr. Lindsay be requested to examine the two men named, and, if necessary, take steps to have them examined and committed to the Asylum."
