ENTERTAINMENT AT HELENSVILLE.

A jrosr enjoyable entertainment, designate^ "social," improvised under Roman Catholic auspices, took place at the Helen sville Town Hall on Wednesday evening, June 20th. There Avas ■ a moderately good attendance} and the " sociability" of those present assorted itself beyond question. The programme opened with a quartette " Annie's Tryst" rendered by Father Kehoe, Professor Etran of Aucklandand Messrs Cherifcon and George. Song, " When Other Lips," by Professor Egan, was cordially greeted ; as well as a song " The King of Makarau " by Mr Parish. A flute solo with piano obligate, "Home Sweet Home," by Dr. Egan, highly pleased the audience ; but in the next item, song, " Father O'Flynn," the vocal ability of the Professor was made manifest. As an encore, he gave " I'mKob Myself at All." This was followed by a quartette, " Our Native Land," by Father Kehoo, Dr. Egan, and Messrs Cheriton and George. In a duet, "The Moon Hath Raised Her I/amp Above," from "The Lily of Killarney," Father Kehoe and Mr George acquitted themselves admirably, and MiGeorge created a most favourable impression in his song, " Trua Till Death." With a trio, " Breathe Soft, Ye Winds," in whicli Father Kehoa, Messrs Cheriton and George again appeared, the musical portion of the entertainment was closed by a musical, laughable medley, which fairly brought down the house. An encore was demanded, aud although the Professor was suffering from a slight cold, he kindly favoured with "A Moonlight Serenade,' an adaptation from " The Cats' Duet," by Rossini. In the sentimental, eerio - comic, or i humorous, he was equally successful. A dance then ensued, and the proceedings throughout were highly enjoyable. Mrs F. Little, who is an accomplished pianist, kindly assisted as accompanist in the vocal items, and the dance music (piano and violin) was played by F. Walker and T. Osbaldisten assisted occasionally by Messrs Cheriton and Entwistlo. The qext entertainment of this character is fixed to take place in August, when a dramatic performance will be produced. Wo must not omit to state that there were visitors from Auckland, Waimauku, and Kaukapakapa present.
