Thames, this day. Saxon.—The hauls of picked stone being obtained from the reef in the leading stops over No. 3 level will considerably augment tho monbh's gold reburn when cleaning-up takes place, as since lasb retorting 1851b of picked stone have accumulated, the major portion of which came bo hand from tins sbope. The reef continues to look well, carrying excellenb minerals, and showing strong colours of gold every breaking-down. The contractors have been removed from the drive ab No. 5 level, until the big Pump resumes operations after the boiler inspection, and they are now engaged in the extension of the crosscut at No. 3 level, to intersect No. 1 footwad leader. There is no change bo report from bhe various sbopes. New Manukau.—The quartz broken oub during the pasb monbh is ab presenb in course of breatmenb ab bhe Waiotahi babbery, and is shaping for a good return. New Prince Imperial.-—The crushing of 40 loads of quartz is almost finished, bub bhe stuff has shaped very poorly. In consequence of bhis, work has been suspended in the stopes on hangingwall leader above No. 1 level, and also in the winze below No. 2 level. Only six men are now employed, and they are all engaged in prospecting works, viz., driving a crosscut into the footwall of No. 1 reef ab 2s o. 2 break westward, ab No. 2 level, and stoping on No. 1 reef easbward above No. 3 level.

Cambria.—The inspection of the boi'or was finished yesterday, and operations in the mine have been resumed.

New Fearnought.—A few days ago a reef was intersected in the crosscub. The manager informs me thab bhe quartz carries some favourable mineral, bub he has not yeb observed any gold in the lode, although colours of gold have been seen in one or two sbringers sbriking inbo ib. Marototo.—Several of the miners discharged from bhe Cambria lasb week have been successful in obtaining employment ab Marobobo, and have left for bhat place. In compliance wibh insbrucbions received from Sydney on Saturday last, Mr J. H. Moore, who is supervising operations in bhe Marototo North G.M.Co., has engaged ten miners on behalf of thab Company, and work is bo be proceeded with immediately. In the Marototo Gold and Silver Mining Co. 's mine (formerly the Prospectors') ben or bwelve men are employed.

Cambria.—The mine manager reports that the bee drive at JNo. 4 level is in a distance ot 19 feet. On Friday and Saburday lasb, strong colours of gold were seen bhrough bhe quartz broken down, as well as nice-looking mineral. The winze on bhe main reef in bhe inbermediabe level easb was started on Friday last. Three pounds of picked sbone were obbained from a leader on bhe hanging wall of the reef. A portion of the reef was broken down when starting to sink, in which there is splendid mineral. The mine was stopped for boiler inspection lasb Saturday, bub work has now been resumed.

Saxon.—The mine manager reports :. In the leading stope hillward ot rise No. 3 level bhe reef is divided inbo bwo parts by a horse of mullock. The footwall portion is from 6 bo 12 inches bhick and produced 50 pounds of picked sbone during bhe pasb week. The hanging wall portion is from 15 to 18 inches thick and the eighty pounds of picked stone wired yesterday were obtained from ib. In' bobh parts colours of gold are seen through the general dirt, and gold is showing in the back of bhe foobwall porbion. Three stopes are in progess above this, in which there is from 15 to 18 inches of crushing dirt, and gold is seen w hen breaking it down. The crosscub from this level to cub No. 1 footwall leader is in 10 feet in very good country. This work is being carried on by the contracbdrs for the low level, who cannot continue below in consequence of bhe Big Pumpstoppage for boiler inspection. Both sbopes on bhe foobwall leader have been advanced 9 feet, and are 7 inches bhick and show good colours of gold. On hanging wall reef, No. 4 level, the leading and second sbopes are up to Trenton boundary. The 3rd stope is 115 feeb ; 4bh sbope, 95 feet; sth stope, 86 feeb ; and 6th stope 39 feet in from the junction. The reef on each porbion: of bhese sbopes is 15 inches bhick, and shows colours of gold. On the foobwall reef the 7bh stope is within 17 feet of bhe boundary. The reef here is from 12 bo 15 inches bhick, and shows a little gold. The Bbh sbope is 131 feeb, and bhe 9bh sbope 99 feeb in from rise. 15 inches of quartz is showing in each of bhese stopes, and every breaking down colours of gold are seen. All the quarbz now being broken is shaping for a payable return, and as bhere is a large amounb in sight I would again, urge the necessiby of a babbery. Plabe amalgam was cleaned yesterday for 208ozs lOdwbs making in all 13470zs lOdwts on hand to date. The picked stone on hand will be crushed to-day, and retorting takes place bo-morrow.

Cambria.—The fortnightly cleaning up to-day gave 1260z5. gold from 157 loads of quartz.

Saxon.—Clearing up and retorting takes place to-morrow.
