On v February 22nd the long-looked-for opening of the Panama Canal through the JVlindi-hill, 4 miles from Colon, was finally accomplished. There is now a continuous waterway open from the sea at Colon to a v point near Bojio station, on the Panama railroad, with a depth sufficient to float a 1,000-ton vessel. Length of the canal new finished is 15" miles.
