CORRESPONDENCE.

To tho Editor : Sir,— lie tho Popo and the League : Just now, when excitement is funning high re tho Tope's denunciation of the plan of campaign, it may interest many of your readers to learn what transpired in one of tho huge cities (Nottingham) of England under similar circumstances. When the Primrose League was in its infancy, strange as it may appear, many Catholics joined, and to put a stop to this tho Catholic Bishop of that town published a decree forbidding any Catholic to join. Well, sir, tho papers wore flooded with letters from Catholics, refusing, in indignant terms, to recognise tho right of tho Bishop to interfere in any matters other than belong to the Church, with the result that the Bishop withdrew his decree. Cannot what has once happened on a small scale happen again on a greater?—l am, etc., Charles H. Hopewell, Epsom.
