BATTENBERG'S WOOING.
THE MARRIAGE ONLY POSTPONED.
Sydney, May 14. News from Berlin by the Valetta dated Berlin, April 13th, states that the proposed marriage of Prince Alexander of Battenberg to the Princess Victoria is not abandoned, merely postponed till it can be carried into force without Bismarck thinking it necessary to oppose it on the ground of International policy. The crisis originated when Bismarck first heard that Prince Alexander was to be recognised as a German Prince and receive the Order "pour le Merite." and appointed to the command of an army corps. The second crisis was the announcement of the betrothal. The general opinion is that the political reasons against the match are refutable.
