WRECKED ON AN ISLAND.
Chicago, April 4.—A dispatch from Adrian, IVJicn., says: William G. Waldby has returned from Florida to rocovor from tho effects of a trying adventure. Mr Waldby and a friend went on a yachting oxpedition recently alon# the coast of tho Gulf of Mexico. During the etorm thoy wero cast on tho rocks of a pmall uninhabited island about two miles from tho mainland. Their boat was wrecked, and after three days, thoy began to give up all hope of rescue, no boats passing near tho island. Some wild berries which grew on tho island served to prevent starvation. On tho fifth day Mr Waldby decided to try to reach the mainland by swimming. After a severo struggle, ho reached the shore at a point several miles from any habitation. Waldby was nearly nakecf, and had to walk along the flinty coast six miles before ho saw a human being, to whom he related his story. Ho was taken in charge, and, after several hour 9, a boat was found to tako tho other man off the island, who by this had givon Waldby up for drowned and was rosigned to hia fate.
