ARCHHILL LICENSING ELECTION.

PROHIBITIONISTS DEFEATED.

Considerable interest was manifested by the residents of Arch Aill on Saturday in result of the polling for the Licensing election. From the time the poll closed until the Returning Officer, Mr Thomas Seaman, declared the results a large crowd waited outside the Newton West schoolroom anxious to know how the right finished. (Shortly after 7 p.m. the results were declared as follows :— George Taylor 115 Thomas Frost HO John O'Kara ... HO Joseph Han lan ... ... HO Robert Somers 107 James RadclitTe ... ... 72 W. J. Macdennotb 69 J. T. B. Dines ... 67 Thomas Hodgson ... ... 66 Henry Thompson 65 The declaration of the results was received with cheers. Mr Seaman announced the riret rive candidates duly elected, and that the meeting for the appointment of a chairman would be held next Wednesday in Mr Seaman's office in the Insurance Buildings.
