The members of the Light of the Ocean Lodge of. H.M.s. Opal held an. outing on Wednesday to Buckland's. favmi atf the Tamaici. They had issued invitations jto nhe sisters of all sges from kfchc Auckland and Suburban Lodges, .also to the W.C.T. of the Lrudges. Tha Ulster's to a very large uuiri>or availed themselves of the privilege thus successfully extended to them by their sailor brothers. The whole were conveyed octfe by" four of Mr Crowther's 'buses gaily de. jorated. with flags and flowers — the (i}> t and second drawn by Sour greys contain ingtho sailors and the Sisters of the Star of .Vewfcon carrying the ■ Union Jack, find tho Minstrel troupe in full dress and I Wind of the Opal .respectively ; the third «'itid fourth drawn by four bays, nteo'lobded' with blue jackets and sisters from A rk of Bden, Hopeo£Parncll, Victoria. and Gv.tiding. Star Lodges- Tho drive out was' very enjoyable, and on arrival the large tent sent up as if by magic, the cloth Taitf under the able managementof inatrcos who had charge of. the catering, and gave universal satisfaction. Afcte'f satisfying •• che cravings of hunger, various games were smarted, consisting ofSrounders, French tigu©,«hootin!r n-allory, dace ing, swinging and, tug of war between fcho sisters of Victoria, Ark "of Eden a"uinefr Star of Newton and Parnell Lodcesf Tk.e former were victorious." Just • before leaving, Captain Loßoy moved a vote of thanks to the 'sailor ,brothers for tho pleasure it had gvven them to be present and enjoy the generous ami very hearty treat provided for them, which was carried by acclamation, and was responded to by Mr Cross, W.C.T. of the Opal, and ifc gave them equal pleasuro to have had the company of ho many fair filters and they Vrera pleased ' to' know they had all enjoyed tlieanpelves. lie would conclude by «skiri« them to sung '" Aulci; Lang Syne/ when they all prcparec. to get all aboard and arrived hoiue about 8 o'clock, a.ul ended a day thai will be remembered by all those who wore -fortunate enough to be present.
