Mr J. Chambers'*? eh h Cardigan, syx*s, by Goldsborough—Signora, Bsb ... 1 Hon. W. A. Long's b g Centaur, aged, by The Drummer- Clio, 7st 21b ... 2 Hon. Jus. White's b f Acme, 4yrs, by Chester—Princess Maud, Bst 121b ... 3 Seventeen horaes started. The betting at the post was 3 to 1 against Dunlop, 6 to 1 Cardigan, 7 to 1 Acme, 10 to 1 Centaur. The race was a very pretty one throughout. Acme and Centaur headed tho field when entering the straight for horn*, but here Cardigan, who had been lying close handy, challenged the leaders, and at the distance post he was on oven terms, and then resulted one of the best finishes ever seen on the course, Cardigan just managing to gain the judge's verdict, Acme being an excellent third. Time, 2min 24aec.

The Centennial Stakes were won by Paladin.
