A cricket match commenced yesterday between Vernon's 11 and an 18 of Ballarat. The English team went to the wickets first, and at the conclusion of the days' play had scored 343 for the loss of four wickets, towards which Stoddarb contributed 95, Abel 33, Hawk 70, and Peel (not out) 41.
