Funeral Notices. ORDERS. Militia and Volunteer Office, Auckland, November 18,1887. 1. It is with profound regret that Ihe death of Colonel W. C. Lyon, Commanding the Auckland District, is announced to the Volunteers. It is unnecessary to pronounce any eulogy on one so beloved and respected by all who have had the privilege of serving under him. Mourning, consisting of a band of crape above the left elbow, will be worn by all Officers for one month, from this date. 2. The Volunteers in the Auckland District will assemble at the Drill Shed at 2 p.m. TO-MORROW (Sunday), the 20th inst., for the purpose of escorting to the grave the remains of the late Colonel W. C. Lyon, Commanding the District. Dress: Review Order! Major Payne, Commanding Artillery, will be good enough to make arrangements for the guns and nine rounds blank ammunition; three rounds of blank ammunition per manwill be issued to the Infantry firing party, which will be commanded by Lieut-Colonel Shepherd. 3. Lieutenant-Colonel Shepherd, as the next senior officer, assumes command of the district, all correspondence and returns to be rendered accordingly, until further orders. T.
