A RIOTER BAYONETTED.
The daily newspapers commend the police for their moderation in dealing with the crowds of people, many o* whom were armed with bars of iron'
knives, pokers and gas pipes. The wounds received by numbers of the mob are stated to be less severe than those sustained by the constables. One rioter was, however, bayonetfced. The soldiers were cheered by the crowd. Th'vra were 5,000 police cons ables engtge in preserving order and disperse . t . the crowd. Only fifty ©f the rioters now remain in gaol, the i-'.-:t having; been set at liberty.
