TRAFALGAR SQUARE
DEFYING THE POLICE,
MILITARY CALLED OUT,
THE CROWD DISPERSED
London, November 13,
In express defiance of Sir HWarren's proclamation forbidding meetings in Trafalgar Square, a num ber of the .Radical Socieies of London persisted in the attempt to hold a meeting this morning in that localityIn an encounter with the police, the mob destroyed the railiugs of the Square, but the police eventually cleared and encircled the Square, and the attempts of the crowd to force their way back were frustrated.
This afternoon further threatening demonstrations were made by the mob, and the authorities were compelled to call out a body of horse and footguards to reinforce the police.
Several arrests have been made and the crowd are now dispersing.
