Tne ship Canterbury sailed from London for this port on the 27th September last. The s.s. Chelmsford sails for Opotiki at 7 p.m. to-day, her departure having been delayed by dirty weather. The. barque William Turner entered outwards at the Customs this morning for Newcastle direct. The s.s. Ohau sailed at p.m. last night for Dunedin direct. S3ie took away 25 bags of potatoes and no pr issengers. The barque Northern Chiief arrived at Whangaroa yesterday. She is to load with . timber for Sydney. JE5The s.s. Glenelg left for Mercury Bay at 9.30 a.m. to-day with cargo and passengers. She was compelled to remfiin in port las night in consequence of the bad weather. * ' The barque M. Hennin;?s was on the berth loading at New York forLyttelton and Auckland when tlie mail left. She was expected to sail about the 15th November. The s.s. Clansman, from Rusisell, did not reach here until 3.30 yesterday afternoon, owing to the heavy weather outtude. She . brought a number of passengers. Tho steamers Australia and Omapere should arrive some time this evening,unless they are weather-bound on the coast. The • former arrives from East Coast ports and the latter from South. The R..M.S. Mariposa sailed at 4.30 this morning for Sydney with mails, cargo, and passengers for San £*rancisco. She took the following passengers from here for Sydney:—Mrs E. Howard, Miss L. Heise, and Mr Jones. The rates of freight ruling at New York on the 13th ultimo were as follows : Auckland and Wellington, 22£ cents ; Dunedin and Lyttelton, 2?4 cents. Vessels, though still scacroatthe date named, were in better supply than for some time past. The departure of the s.s. Clansman for ' Tauranga was postponedirom last night till to-day, owing to her late arrival from Russell and the heavy weather prevailing outside. She, however/, left at 9 a.m. to-day with cargo and passe-ogers, and is expected to. be in port here again to-morrow after- ' noon. The brigantine Ryno arrived in harbour last night, after a four months' cruise in the islands. She brings a cargo of copra and pearl shell. She experienced fine weather the whole ciuise. She spoke the ship Kosciusko on the 27th August, bound to San Francisco from Sydney with a cargo of coal. The* Ryno brings the following passengers :—G. Dunnet, Dean, Mendall " andFurman. The following were the freights ruling at London on the sth October for New Zealand p or fcs : _ Measurement, by Shaw, Savill's line : Rough goods, 50s; fine goods, 60s to 70s. By Colonial Union Co. : Rough goods, 30s; fine goods, 355. By vessels: Rough goods, 20s; fine goods, 20s. For weight: Shaw, Savill/ Co. 's line charge for , packed, 355; naked, 30s. The Colonial Union Co. for packed, 30s; naked,. 255. By sail: Naked and packed goods, 20s. The brigantine Ada C. Owen arrived in port this morning from Rarotonga, and was berthed at half-bast eleven beside the ship

Owen left this port for Rarotonga on the lOlh Sept., and arrived at her destination on the 2nd of October, anrl taking in cargo Failed for Auckland on tho 15th. of same month.
