The Hanlan-Beach Match.
Increasing interest is being manifested in the great sculling match which takes place between Beach and Hanlan, for £500 ii-cside and the rowing honours of the world, on the Nepean River on the 26th of [November. Beach is quartered on the ■Nepean ; Hanlan, however, still remains on the Parramatta. Tho champion is as strong '■and a.s hardy as ever, and ho is in splendid condition all round. Tho Canadian Las been a little unfortunate since his 'arrival in the colony. At the present time ; he is suffering from the effects of a carbuncle on the left wrist, which causes him considerable pain and annoyance. It in expected that he will be fully recovered and able to use his hands and arms freely in about a week's time. Hi.s work at present 'is confined to easy paddling on the river and a certain amount of land exercise.
Hanlan writes: "I wish to give publicity to tho fact that I never gave any authority to ask Beach for a postponement. I may further state, that my hands are progressing favourably, so much so that 1 am rowing quietly, am in excellent health, and Setting condition fast and trust by Novpmer 26th to be perfect, which will enable Sne to make a race with Beach for the championship."
