THE AUCKLAND ROWING CLUB.
The Auckland Rowing Club was formed in 1867, and up till a few years back held a leading place in rowing matters. There waa a largo number of members, a good stock of boats and a shed, but the reclamation works took away its shed, and it_ then ceased to exist as an aquatic institution. With the increased interest taken in rowing, however, and the generally felt want experienced for another central club, an effort is being made to resuscitate the old club, and with that purpose a meeting was held on Thursday night, in the Imperial Hotel, of those interested in it. There was a large meeting, and Mr Thos. Henderson was called to the chair. Several matters of importance were discussed, and it was decided to revive the club, and a committee consisting of Messrs C. Dacro, James, Younghusband, Baker, Bcggs, and T. Henderson, were elected to canvass for members and make somearrangements for the club before the next meeting, which is to be held next Tuesday evening,to elect officers, etc. A plan for a new shed. 60 x 30 was submitted to the meeting to be erected on the site recently granted by the Harbour Board, between Hobson-strcet and the Dock, and adjoining tho Waitemata Boating Club's shed. The shed will be replete witli every convenience, and it is intended to obtain a number of pleasure boats as well ajrboats for racing purposes.
