BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETINGS

The fortnightly meeting took place last night. Present: —The Mayor (Mr M. Nic. col), and Crs. E. W. Alison, J. Duder, R. Duder, Pitts, Philcox, and Jas. Mays.
Borough Accounts. — The Comptroller and Auditor-General wrote, intimating the appointment of George Fraser, of TakaEiina, to examine the borough accounts on is behalf.
VAUXiiAT.L. —Prof. Frederick Brown complained of the state of the Vauxhall lload in front of his new residence: Referred to Works Committee.
Grateful Contractors.—Wells Bros., borough contractors for carting and supply of road metal, returned thanks for past favours.
Books.—A letber was received from the Norwich Union Insurance Company, accepting Council's proposal for an additional £50 of insurance upon bhe books of the Library, and enclosing policy for same up to February 12, 1888.
