Mr Harwood referred to the evil effects which the influx of Chinese into the United States has produced amongst the working classes, and Mr Laurens pointed out that the question could now be easily dealt wibh, bub if postponed until the Chinese were more numeous the difliculby of dealing wibh them would be greater than was presented by the rabbit plague. Where the rabbite come the sheep starve, and where the Chinamen come -the white working men will have to starve, said Mr Laurens.
