Tiie ©tlier Side of tiie Story
Constable McKnigiit, of Papakura, has reported to Inspector Sherman the arresof five Germans, charged with a serious assault on a settler named Walter Alfred White, particulars of which were given in our last issue. The Germans were arrested by the constable without any trouble, and from descriptions given by White. Their names are Frederick Moichere, Henry Hench, Carle Borgotte, Wilhelm Borgotte, and Jene • Warlick. They were before the Court at Papakura and remanded until the 11th inst., bail being.,allowed. The Germans have a version of the affair somewhat at variance withal given by White. It is assorted on their side that the disagreement is one between landlord and tenant, and the landlord, Thos. Halliwell, alleges that the tenant, Walter Wbite, first assaulted him before the Germans did anything. It is also likely that Halliwell will take legal action against White on another charge, so that quite an interesting case is promised.
