Rifle Match
The shooting match arranged to take place between teams representing the Cit^ Guards and O Battery eventuated at the Mount Eden Range on Saturday last, the former winning after a good contest by 6 points. The 0 Battery only mustered a team of five men, and from the Guards' team present an equal number were selected to do battle on their behalf. The weather was unfavourable for good scoring, rain falling throughout the afternoon. The carbines made the best shooting at the 500 yards range, and towards the finish looked decidedly dangerous, but they were unablo to wipe off the lead obtained by the rilles at the short ranges, the Guards winning as above stated by 6 points. Ranges—2oo, 300, and 500 yards, 5 shots at each. Subjoined are the scores :—

Navals.
The Auckland, Ponsonby, and Waitemata Naval Companies assembled at the Drill-shed at half-past three on Saturday. Captain Leßoy commanded, and all the officers in connection with the Companies were present. The muster numbered :— Auckland, 45; Ponsonby, 43; and Waitematas, 30 ; giving a total of 118 rank and file. There would, no doubt, have been a much larger muster had it not been for the inclemency of tho weather. From the Drill-shed the men were marched on to the front of the Choral Hall, there put through the judging distance, and then fell in, marched back to the Drill-shed, and were dismissed. The band belonging to the battalion was also in attendance.
Notice is given that all the members of the Auckland Naval Company who have not gone tlirough their first practice for class-firing are to muster at the Rifle Range at 4 p.m. pn Wednesday, when an officer will be present to put them through.
