ARRIVAL OF THE TARAWERA.

The s.s. Tarawera, 2,003 tons, W. C. Sinclair, arrived from Melbourne via Hobart and-South at II a, ro. to-day, The .purser

(Mr C. H. Humphries) reports having left Melbourne on the 20fch, arrived at MobarL at 7.40 a.m. on the 22nd, and left again afc--5.30 p.m., arriving at the Bluff at 6 a.m. on the 26th. Left same date at 5.30 p.m., arriving at Dunedin Wharf at 1.30 p.m. on the 27th.° Left Port Chalmers at 6.30 p. m. on the 28th,andmade fasttoLyttelton Wharf aftera smart run of 14 hours and 40 minutes. Left Lyttelton on the 29th at 5.10 p.m., arriving at Wellington at 6.30 a.m. on the 30th. Passage, 13 hours and 20 minutes, against a fresh head wind. Left Wellington on the 30th, at 5.20 p.m., reaching Napier at 10.20 a.m. on the Ist inst. Loft at 9 p.m., and arrived at Gisborne at 5 a.m. on the 2nd, and left for Auckland at 10 a.m., arriving here as above. Experienced moderate winds with fino weather to East Cape, thence to arrival strong S.W. winds. She brings the following passengers :—Misses Paton (2), Greenwood, Burn, Wright, Howell, Townsend; Mesdames Reid, White, Alabaster, Spencer, Henderson ; Messrs Edwards, Clement, Durward, Flyger, Joachim, J. Southern, Hunt, Waihopc, Reid, Barrett, Todhuntcr, Nelson, Vallance (2), Eccles,. Smith. Ness Keith, White, Boyae, Fancourt, Fisher, Wright, Palmer, Wills and 30 steerage. :
