Amateur Opera Club.

(To the Editor.) Sre,-I would like to call your attention and the attention of the members of the Club to the seemingly decided mifirMj or total incapacity on the part of the Committee to carry out the duties of their office. Whether it is true or .not* Jj is currently reported that there are three or four drones on the Committee who seem to be satisfied when they see their names on the printed rules. The height of their ambition is reached, and whilst serenely enjoying their proud position they simply act as stumbling-blocks ™ the advancement of the society^and the enjoyment of the members and public generally. , . „ It may possibly be urged as an excuse for the present unsatisfactory state of things that the delay ie caused by the difficulty m obtaining music. Other opera clubs in the Alony can obtain music ; other societies in the city can obtain music; and yet the Opera Club here cannot. _~,.. „,, It is about a year since the Club obtained their brilliant success in "Les Cloches, and yet there is no work under preparation. 1 think it is time matters were brought to an issue, and I trust the requisite ten members will take an early opportunity of calling a general meeting to consider what is best to be done. ■, ~ ... Beinf prepared to request the Committee to worit, or resign in favour of those who have more energy,—l am,

Lamorna.
