Dunedin.
The official declaration of the poll for the city and suburban seats took place to-day. There was no material change in the figures, and for Dunedin East Mr Allen's majority remained at 29. Sir Robert Stout, in returning thanks, said he had received, telegrams from all parts of the colony condoling with him, and he was glad to say Major Atkinson had telegraphed urging him to reconsider his decision to retire. He intended to retire into private life, and he did so without any chagrin. Sir Robert Stout left late this afternoon for Wellington in the Tarawera.
