PROJECTED DEPARTURES.

Hermione, ship, for London, loading C. W. Janes, Bchooner, for New York Wanaka (Onehunga), for the South, Friday, 9.30 a.m.

The barque Danao was docked this morning for a general overhaul. The schooner Waireka left Hokianga for this port with timber yesterday.

The schooner Jennie B. will load sugar at Fiji for Auckland on account of the New Zealand sugar Company.

The barque Northern Chief left New castle, for Fiji, on Monday last, with a ful cargo of coal.

Mr C. Bailey shipped per Tarawera today a large open boat for the GisbOrne Harbour Board.

The. brigantine Defiance cleared at the Customs to-day, and will probably sail this evening for Whangaroa, ballasted, to load for Rockhamptori.

By our advertising columns it will be seen that the s.s; Whampoa is SniftHSSSSJ V 6 Wave this port on her return voyage to Hongkong about the Bth instant; *-'

The s.s. Whampoa, due to arrive here from Fooehow on the 6th instant, will require 200 tons of coal, for supply of which tenders are invited by Mr H. B. Morton, agent.

The Seamen's Union have chartered three steamers to run in opposition to the Northern Steamship Company. Particulars appear in another column.

The1 s.s. Douglas arrived from Opotiki this morning with 410 sacks of maize, and 15 sacks potatoes. Passengers: Misses Slater and Chapman (2), Captain Bluett, Messrs Waters and Whitaker.

The following small coasters have arrived: — Lizette, ketch, from Thames; Lea, cutter, from Tauranga; Una, scow, from OmaUa; Seagull, cutter, from Whangarei; Wear, cutter, from Omaha. The schooner Julia Pryce, which recently went ashore at Mongonui and was floated off by Mr D. Gouk, jun., for her purchasers, Messrs Ruggandßurrell, has been chartered by Captain Rossnall to take up the trade between this port, Mercury Bay, and Napier, previously run by the schooner Columbia.

The s.s. lona arrived from Tauranga, etc., this morning early. Passengers from Tauranga:—CaptainMair, Captain Blewitt, Messrs Waters, Lemon, Woolcock, Fisher, Chadwick, Croker, Miss Slater. From Mercury Bay : Mrs Hanna, Messrs Cramer and Thompson and 2 steerage. The lona left again for Great Barrier at 8 a.m.

The s.s. Tarawera left for Melbourne via the South at'noon to-day. Passengers for Gisborne :—Messrs O. Davis, W. R. Crawford: For Napier: Messrs R. A. Wilson, P. E. French, P. C. Fulton, C.
