CHRISTMAS COMPETITION

PRIZES FOR THE BEST VERSE,

PRIZES for the BR ST FOUR and EIGHT LINE VERSES suitable for Christmas and New Year Cards, are offered as follows :-

FOR THE BEST FOUR-LINE VERSE, a Handsome Illustrated Book on the New Zealand War, value Two Guineas.

FOR TBE BEST EIGHT-LINE VERSE, a similar prize to the above.

CONDITIONS. J. The Sole Right of publishing all verses sent in will vest in the Proprietor of the Star.

2. Verses intended for Competition must be delivered on or before the 31st DAY OF AUGUST, addressed "Christmas Competition," Stab Office.

3. Competitors are not restricted to the number of separate verses they may send in.

4. Tho Verses must be original.

0. Verses should bo signed with Motto or Norn de Plume, the real name and address to be enclosed in separate sealed envelope, with the Mottto outside.

6. The selection of the Prize Verses will be made by the Rev. E. H. Gulliver, M.A.. and Mr J. L. Kelly, author of the Prize Poem " Queen's Jubilee "
