Tiie usual Sunday afternoon concert given.by Mr Pooley's choir takes place tomorrow at the City Hall, and from the programme, which appears in our advertising columns, a most enjoyable entertainment may be expected. It is suggested to cut out the programme from the Star, for use at these concerts. . On Monday evening the new cantata, " Queen Victoria and Her Reign," will be rendered by the united choirs of the schools connected with the Auckland Sunday-school Union. The performance will take place in tho Choral Hall, Mr Robert Tudebope officiating as conductor. An orchestral band will accompany the vocalists. The cantata is of a biographical character, referring to the literature, art, commerce and the natural development during the last 50 years. The music has been composed and arranged by Mr Henry Os ward, and the connectiona. readings by Mr A. J. Foxwell. Some of the musical selections are very pretty, and the performance should prove a success. The final rehearsal takes place on Thursday evening. Mr C. F. Kretschmar, dealer in fancy goods, who has been favourably known for some years past on account of his moderate prices and well assorted stock, has recently opened a second shop in Queen-street, adjoining Tonks' auction mart, and is offering a choice selection of articles at prices that will meet with the approval of the public.
