THE LABOUR MARKET IN VICTORIA.

The subject of influx of labouring men from the other colonies was brought up ab a meoting of the Trades Hall Council. It Was stated that the labour market here is glutted by all kinds of working men Irom Western Australia, New Zealand, South Australia, and New South Wales. As regarded South Australia, the unemj ployed from that colony had boon supported foi-'the lash two years, and if tho prosoub stoto of things continued, wagon would bo lowered. Air Trenwith did not object tq impecunious men in New South Wales coining to Victoria to try thoir fortune, but hoobjected to tho Government of that colony importing poor men lrom Europe and then sending, thorn ovor to Victoria. After a long discussion on bhe subject a resolution wtta carried unanimously,—" Thab thia Council desires to express its surprise and indignation nb the course which the New South Wales Government has pursued in connection with the immigration system, and that a letter bo sent to thab Govern-; ment informing bhom of this K-eoiiltion,"
