A difficulty has arisen ■ between the authorities respecting the future custody of the prisoner Prendergast, who was convicted ,of .murdering his wife at Pokeno. It will be remembered that he was committed" to the Asylum as insane, but has since returned to a sound mental condition. Dr. Cremonini has therefore applied to the Besident; Magistrate for his removal to the Gaol, as he is perfectly sane, but Mr Smith declines to interfere.
