JOHN LAMB, of the Auckland Roller Mills and Bisouit Manufactory. Fort-street, takes thn liberty of intimating to the public that ho has put on tho market a " PATENT PORRIDGE MEAL." made from puro wheat, which is much cooler thnn oatmeal; and it will be seen from the analysis Of Mr J. A. POND, Colonial Analyst, whieli is Annexed, that this i 6 a most valuable food, and it is giving entire satisfaction. It can be obtained at most of the leading grocers' in Auckland and suburbs in 71b bags and upwards, ond Brown Bread made from this meal from tho lending bakers. In making the porridge, the water should bo boiling before tho meal is put in. Auckland, February 12,1887. J. Lamb, Esq., Auckland. Sir,—At your request I obtained a sample of your " Porridge Meal" from your mill oti tho 3 1st ulto., and nave examined tho samplo, with the following results :— ANALYSIS. Moisture ~ .. .. a . 12-35 Soluble Albuminoids.. .. .. I*lo Sugar, Gum, and Dextrine.. .. 5*15 Gluton .. .- T'C6 Cellulose .. .... .... 2-5S Starch and Fat.. .. ~ ~ 7630 Ash .. .. .. .. ~ .. '96 100This sample wab produced entirely from wheat, and these results show the preparation of a valuable article of food from which a largo proportion of the bran has been removed. Tho nitrogenouß matter is present to a greater degree than it would be in flour prepared from this wheat, while the retention of the germ in the meal adds greatly to its value as a flesh-pro-ducer, owing to tho largo amount of albuminoids Uiub retained. Tho ash is heavier than in ordinary wheat flours, and as this is chiefly composed of phosphates, which ate very important as bone-?qrming materials, it will be seen how beneficial this food will prove to children. lam of opinion that this preparation will prove of great dietetic value but to ensure its easy assimilation by the system it will require care in cooking, and will noed at least thirty minutes at a boiling temperature to attain this result. I have tho honour to bfj • Your obedient servant, J, A. Pond, Colonial Analyst. PAT meets SANBY on the QUEEN--BTKE&T WJIARF, just »rrivod "frae the Hlelands "by the Doric.
