YACHTING ENTERPRISE.
Another Auckland Yacht to go to Sydney. There is every reason to believe that Auckland will be represented in the intercolonial sailing races at Sydney next season by another locally-built yacht. The Waitangi has already won a reputation for this port by her succession of victories over the crack Melbourne yacht Janet and the Magic. Negotiations ai*e now in progress which will probably result in Mr Logan, of North Shore, receiving an order from a gentleman in Auckland who takes a lively and active interest in yachting, to build a vessel to compete in the Sydney i-aces of next season. She will measure about 25 tons, will cost between £1,000 and £1,500, and will be built on a model something like that of the Matangi. Mr Logan stands foremost in the ranks of local yacht builders, and to his creative genius Aiickland is indebted for a fleet of probably the best and fastest yachts of their size in the colonies. The news of this enterprising resolve will cause quite a flutter amongst local yachtsmen, and the general opinion will be that the construction of our now yachting champion could not be in bettor hands than tlio.se of Mr Logan.
