A small supply of poultry had a limited demand; no large buyers in the market. A l«rgo quantity of produce entered, but bidding was dull; there was a large portion of inferior quality. Is to 12s 6d eacn ; potatoes, Ss ad to Is M per cwt; onions, Jd to" Id per lb; bran, 5s per 10011)3; oats, 2a 2d per bushel: bacon (Canterbury), id per lb; apples, Id to 2d per lb; pears, lid per lb; plums, 3d per lb; quinces, Id to ltd per lb; sides veal. Is to 23 per side: cheese, id to 3d per lb. A sundry lot of second-hand rirapcry and clothing was disposed of at a satisfactory prioe. ■
Mr Kdwnrd Lejdon reports business for the week satisfactory. Friday: Market day's sale. There was a good demand for bacon, hum, and Rood potatoes. Fruit went very cheap. The following are come of the orices: Potatoes £3 9a 6d to fit per ton; pig ditto. 2s per sack; onions, Jd to Id; apples. Jd to 2)d per lb; pears. Id to 21 per lb; cheese, Sid to 6d per lb; hams, 5d to 8d per lb : bacon, 3}d to 6d perlb; biaouita, 2Jd to 4Jd per lb; lollies, 35 dto 6d per lb; tea. Is to Is 7d per lb; Eugar, 2Jd per lb; fowls. Is 6d to 2s Id each; ducks, 2) to 2b 6d eaoh; pigs. 8s to lis each. There was also a large lot of furniture sold; tho prices ruled very low.
